Our Professional Advisory Group

Our Professional Advisory Group serves as an advisory body to support and enhance the quality of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) that we provide to Air Force Reserve Chaplains. They ensure our program meets professional standards and aligns with the center’s purpose of delivering relevant and effective CPE training in a virtual setting.

    Irene Albritton is an ordained minister currently serving as pastor of First Christian Church Aiken. She served as Director of Chaplaincy & Pastoral Education at Palmetto Health from 1995 until her retirement in 2017. Irene has been active in the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) at regional and national levels, holding leadership positions in certification and accreditation, and has extensive experience working with military chaplains and veterans. She comes from a family with a strong military background and is married with three children and five grandchildren.

    Carolyn Barksdale is an ordained minister, a certified Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) CPE Educator, and currently serves as the Program Director of Clinical Pastoral Education at the San Antonio Military Medical Center, USAF CPE Center. She is the sole CPE Educator for the United States Air Force, training chaplains globally. Her extensive experience includes 23 years of honorable service in the United States Air Force, from which she retired in 1994.

    Jonathan Fisher is a decorated Chaplain in the U.S. Army Reserves, an ordained minister in the Christian Church, and currently serves as Director for the Center for Extended CPE with the IRL-Graduate School at Fort Jackson, SC. Jonathan has served through three activations to Iraq, including deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve. He is married to Sara Nave, also an ordained minister, with whom he has three children.

    Brooks Heard is a Board-Certified Chaplain and ACPE Certified Educator, currently serving as the Manager of Clinical Pastoral Education at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. With a diverse upbringing as the child of a U.S. Army servicemember, Brooks brings a wealth of cultural and spiritual experiences to his work. As an emerging leader in spiritual care, education, and training, he continues to make significant contributions to the field.

  • Mitchell Holley

    Mitchell Holley is a Staff Chaplain at the Air Force Chaplain Corps College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. As a Board-Certified Chaplain, he has extensive experience in trauma, psychiatry, and palliative care. While Mitchell has served in various roles, including Deputy Wing Chaplain, he currently assists in curriculum development and education for Air Force chaplains and Religious Affairs Airmen.

    Doug Slater is an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), currently serves as a Co-Director of the Presbyterian Federal Chaplaincies and is retired from the U.S. Air Force with over 30 years of service. He also serves part-time as Stated Supply pastor at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. Doug is married to Sharon and has three adult children and one granddaughter.

    Linda Wilkerson is an ordained Baptist minister, a retired ACPE Educator, and the former Director of Pastoral Care and Education at Parkland Health & Hospital. She has a special connection to military service due to her father's Naval career. Linda is married to Mark Grace and is a stepmother and grandmother.
